The Jefferson County Historical Society is proud to present Filipinos on the Waterfront, opening September 18 at the Museum of Art + History. This exhibition explores the rich history and enduring contributions of Filipino communities along Washington’s waterfronts—from the shores of Bainbridge Island to the canneries of Alaska.
Through photographs, narratives, and artifacts, visitors will discover how Filipino Americans shaped the maritime culture and economy of the Pacific Northwest over more than a century. The exhibit highlights labor, service, foodways, and traditions that connect these communities to the region’s history.
Created by the Filipino American National Historical Society in partnership with the Maritime Washington National Heritage Area, this exhibition was supported by the National Park Foundation and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Exhibition Dates: September 18 – December 31
Location: The Fire Hall Gallery, Museum of Art + History, Port Townsend, WA
