Meraki: An Evening of Short Films by Ward Serrill

Co-presented by the Jefferson County Historical Society and Port Townsend Film Festival, Meraki is a special evening of short documentary films celebrating local artists, makers, and storytellers whose creativity impacts the world.
Inspired by the Greek word meraki, meaning "passion to create," filmmaker Ward Serrill and Rocky Friedman present four short documentaries exploring the people, passions, and creative processes behind remarkable works of art.

Take a closer look at selected pieces, ask questions, and hear directly from the artist about how his work comes together.

Once a year, we open the doors to our Collections Building and invite the public behind the scenes to see objects not normally on display, discover some of the unexpected things in our collections, and learn how we store and care for more than 500,000 items.
JCHS staff Reed Barry and Ellie DiPietro will lead five small-group tours, sharing stories about Jefferson County history along with a look at the work that goes into storing, preserving, and caring for the collection. Past tour favorites have included historic newspapers, taxidermy, the original Haller Fountain sculpture, and a vintage hearse.
This is the only day of the year our collections storage areas are open for public tours. Space on each tour is limited, so advance registration is strongly encouraged!
