Victorian Festival

The 11th annual Port Townsend Victorian Festival was held March 16 -18, 2007.

Sixteen different events were scheduled over the course of the three-day festival, five were new events.  These included a guided tour of the newly restored City Hall building

Peek at the Past and Lighting the Great Depression presented by Ken Kelly and were presented at the Vintage Hardware building on Sims Way.  The Uptown Guided Walking Tours,  which are a regular JCHS summer offering, were also added.  Beautiful Dreamers: a Port Townsend Kaleidoscope featured a dinner theatre with vignettes of historical characters commenting on events from early Port Townsend life.
The Life and Times of General George Pickett played to a sold-out house in the restored City Hall Council Chambers.  Other activities included the JCHS Education Committee’s Treasure Hunt and "Trunk Talk."  Special tours of the Rothschild House Museum were offered.

Returning events from 2006 included the ever-popular Historic Cemetery Tours, Grand Victorian Ball, Candlelight Dinner and Tour of Homes, Fort Townsend Military Encampment, Victorian Fashion Show, Cornucopia Band Concert, Palace Hotel Poker Parlor and the Port Townsend When and Now Program

The festival was successful despite inclement weather on two of the three days, but attendance was directly impacted.  The planning process consisted of nine months of volunteer work by the core committee of 10, with the addition of over
100 individuals added during the three day period.
